My Training

I earned my PHD from Chicago's Institute for Clinical Social Work, and my Masters in Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago's Jane Addams School of Social Work. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

My Story

I am 48 years old, and an adventurer! I've traveled and lived in many places, and counseling is my second career. For 20 years, before becoming a therapist, I was a television journalist - and I interviewed thousands of people from all walk of life, in an effort to tell their personal stories with compassion and insight. Now, I use these same empathic interviewing skills to help clients better understand themselves and grow in the direction of their dreams.

My Philosophy

My practice is focused on helping women and adolescents work through past traumas, make significant life changes and clarify complex relationship issues. I am an eternal optimist and believer in the human spirit, and support my clients' innate wisdom to know their best direction in life.

My therapeutic approach is Psychodynamic and Relational in nature - which means that I am oriented toward exploring the deeper, emotional motivations behind your behavior patterns and beliefs; I believe they are rooted in your life history and early attachments to significant caregivers.

The work we do, to uncover these emotional motivations, happens while we are forming a healing relationship together,  that will ultimately serve as a model to help you create other supportive relationships in your life. This relationship that we will build together is the key to your growth and success in therapy.
